Louis Mendes Portrait

Description
I met Louis Mendes outside B&H on this day, June the 30th, 2017. Things weren’t so good back then. I don't remember who I was or where I was bound, but I paid him to take my picture, and then I took his. I was struggling to get the lighting right on my end. He was very patient and said, “Steve, Do you see this camera? I bought it back in 1959. I’m 78 going on 79 years old and don’t have many more years to live. Steve, I met all three of my kids mothers with this camera. And I MARRIED the camera. Don't worry about a damn thing because only He knows what tomorrow brings. You can't change yesterday and half of today is already gone. Come back anytime, I'm out here nine days a week. I make my own damn calendar. And remember when you're behind the camera, you're the director.”
